IIRC it's a two-pin Kenwood compatible. I'll double check tonight.

Check this eBay seller under seller:kawarad they sell a lot of speaker mics and accessories for different types of radios. I know they sell kenwood compatible ones as well as motorolla compatible stuff. Just an option since they do sell items from $4 up.
I got a speaker mike and headphones from them which I used in whitestar for 12$, ($14.++ with shipping) and it worked perfectly.

I would love to hear update on experience with that radio.

I would like to re-hear an update... or hear an updated/extended review.
I don't mind dishing out 300-400$ for a good radio that will last me for 20 years.

And then I shot him!

I just purchased that radio. I got mic/speaker for a regular use and throat mic for times when silence is most important. I have absolutely zero experience with throat mic. So I'm expecting to learn a lot. At the last game I was kind of annoyed by "beeps" of my and my team Motorola's.
Thanks Boss for a great post. I follow your choice and I believe it should be great.
BTW I red a few reviews of that radio online and all of them rating it from "good" to "excellent"

Unless I got it wrong, there were links to two radios. Which one did you get?

KG-UVD1P. Hopefully it will be the last radio that I've ever need. Look like it covers all possible situations what I would need it for.

I've used the radio a couple of times in the field it's IMPERATIVE that you know what freq's your team is using and program your handset accordingly.

PRO - you can use a custom frequency within the range
CON - keeping the right freq's programmed

The dual-channel function is great especially if you are in any kind of leadership role. You have one channel for your superiors and the other for your subordinates. The button for swithcing is not "tactical" but you con't be flipping channels in a firefight right ?

I ordered my throatmic with a large PTT, next time I go out I'm mounting it on my right shoulder near where I shoulder my weapon, that way I can activate the PTT with the butt of my carbine.

Just received Scoot's and my radios. Super fast free delivery, ordered on 1st, got it on 9th. wow. Need to sit and set up all freq's to sinc it with my motorola. I ordered the same ptt that Boss did. Was a bit confused how to set all throat mic together. Hole set up looks a bit to strange. throat mic has it own ptt and adding larger ptt looks funny. Plus large ptt has two conectors: one for throat mic and one for.... I dont know for what. Cable for programming came with small size CD which can't fit in my IMac, so look like I can't program it. Hope that Scoot has a regular PC.

Boss, thanks for your posted freq table. How do you program subchannel?
